This mission to Barbados is an excellent opportunity to develop international co-operation and build trading opportunities.
Previous trade missions have resulted in positive outputs with a number of Scottish businesses now trading with Barbados including: Engineering, IT and Training.
Scottish Chambers of Commerce have held discussions with the Barbados Minister of Energy & Business to establish skills and business alignment between the two countries.
The Barbados government's energy strategy includes decommissioning and a circular economy, with offshore wind and marine being the primary sectors for their future. Blue/Green Hydrogen is expected to play a significant role, and the local Chamber has a "Green Council" that Scottish businesses can tap into. Robotics are being used in security, and skills programmes are being created with several universities/colleges in the USA, with plans to do the same in Scotland. Advanced engineering in manufacturing is required, and needs to be industry-driven, as the energy transition is enormous.
The Trade Mission to Barbados is an opportunity for Scottish businesses to explore new markets, form partnerships, and establish themselves as global players in a variety of industries including: Energy, Engineering, Training, Education, Technology & F&B. With the support of various organizations and stakeholders, the Trade Mission will continue to promote international cooperation between Barbados and Scotland, opening up new avenues for economic growth and development.
