Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce (DACC) is pleased to invite applications from any Scottish Business for this virtual trade mission to Virginia, USA.

Virginia is one of the gateways to the wider USA and is the Top State for business, and one of the leading states across industries. Virginia’s workforce is one of the most productive and educated populations in the country – with 38% of the population having a bachelor’s degree of higher, making it the sixth most educated state in the country (and first in the South). Ranked No. 1 in America for both talent and education by CNBC, Virginia continues to raise the bar nationally when it comes to the development of talent (https://www.vedp.org/why-virginia).

The USA has the largest and most technologically powerful economy in the world, with a per capita GDP of around $57,000 (https://app.croneri.co.uk/countries/united-states-america?product=142). In this market-oriented economy, private individuals and business firms make most of the decisions and the federal and state governments buy needed goods and services, predominantly in the private marketplace. US businesses enjoy greater flexibility than their counterparts in Western Europe and Japan in decisions to expand capital plant, to lay off surplus workers and to develop new products .

Strategically located on the U.S. East Coast and adjacent to Washington, D.C., Virginia’s integrated transportation system of highways, railroads, airports, and seaports provide logistical advantages for companies in every industry.

Being positioned so close to Washington D.C has attracted many international businesses, such as Amazon, to base their headquarters in Virginia to make use of its central location and superb infrastructure.
