Lochaber Chamber of Commerce is leading a virtual delegation to North Carolina for businesses interested in exploring business opportunities in the United States to expand their International Trade activity.  

 

North Carolina is a state in the south-eastern region of the United States and is the 28th largest and 9th most populous of the 50 United States.  It is bordered by Virginia to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Georgia and South Carolina to the south and Tennessee to the west.

 

The trade mission will help your business explore International trade opportunities in the Research Triangle Region and beyond.  Research Triangle Park (RTP) is the largest research park in the United States.  It is named for its location relative to the three surrounding cities of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill or more properly for the three major research Universities in them: Duke University, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

The Region comprises of 10 member counties and the Research Triangle Park.

 

As well as business opportunities there are also strong cultural ties between Scotland and North Carolina which has the largest concentration of Scottish descendants of any state in the USA and holds annual Burns Nights, Tartan Day, Highland Games and Gathering of the Clans Celebrations.

 

A diverse business ecosystem, talented workforce and high-quality lifestyle are major factors in the areas continued growth.


Connectivity

Centrally located between New York and Miami, the Research Triangle Region is easily accessible by Raleigh-Durham International Airport (which has been ranked the most connected medium-sized airport in the U.S.), six regional airports, two ports and multiple interstates that span from Florida to New York and North Carolina to California.

North Carolina offers a stable economic environment with established trade links to the UK and its compatible time zone (GMT +5 hours) makes business communication simple.

 

What is involved?

As part of the trade mission delegates will receive market briefings on key opportunities in North Carolina, a virtual networking event with business organisations in North Carolina; and virtual one-to-one business meetings with potential clients or trade partners in North Carolina, based on your company requirements.

 

Who can apply?


  • Open to any company in Scotland looking to grow their International Trade activity in Canada.
  • Companies do not need to be a member of Chamber of Commerce.
  • Cross sector delegation
  • Non-refundable deposit of £100 required to secure each delegate place
