Lochaber Chamber of Commerce is pleased to invite applications from Scottish businesses for a virtual trade mission to British Columbia for businesses interested in exploring business opportunities in Canada to expand their International Trade activity.

British Columbia is the third largest most westerly province in Canada and it is four times the size of Great Britain.  British Columbia is bordered by Alberta to the east, the states of Washington, Idaho and Montana to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The Alaska Panhandle and the Canadian territories of Yukon and The Northwest Territories form the northern border.  Most of BC’s population of over four million people (4,638,825 in 2012, BC Stats) clusters in the province’s southwest corner, in and around the cities of Vancouver and Victoria.

Scottish influence has been an important part of the cultural mix both in metropolitan Vancouver and wider British Columbian society. The city still celebrates Scottish Heritage week; which concludes with the BC Highland Games. Many local place names in Vancouver are of Scottish origin.

In June 2021 exports in British Columbia were up 24.1% year to date to April, relative to the same period in 2020.
