Inverness Chamber of Commerce are delighted to be hosting a Scotland-Canada Business Week and as such are running a virtual trade mission to Ontario, Canada. We welcome applications from Scottish companies looking to explore the opportunities available in Ontario.

Why Choose Ontario?

An inclusive, well-connected and stable business landscape makes Ontario an attractive environment for Scottish companies to do business. With cities such as Toronto, Ottawa and Waterloo, Ontario has experienced major growth in sectors such as finance, science, technology, innovation and food and drink and has a lot to offer Scottish businesses. Innovation is key for Ontario which makes it an attractive place to test new ideas and makes it a place that can drive real economic growth for the next generation.

As Canada’s business and financial capital, Toronto is a growing financial hub in North America. The city is competitive in almost every other major business sector from technology and life sciences to green energy; from fashion and design to food and drink; from film and television production to music and digital media. Toronto’s rich industrial diversity drives growth, innovation and cross-sectoral synergies with knowledge spillovers resulting in new leading-edge hybrid sectors including med-tech, green-tech and food-tech.

Ontario has a highly skilled, diverse workforce with 70% of adults possessing post-secondary education – a rate higher than any other OECD country. The region also has competitive business costs, allowing money to be saved for further investments, innovation and growth.

Ontario is at the centre of one of the most stable and competitive environments in the world. Located in the heart of North America, the region offers companies access to more than 187 million consumers within a day’s drive of the Greater Toronto Area.
